Lincolnwood School District 74 is proud to acknowledge that three of the “rising senior debaters” in the United States are SD74 Alumni. The J.W. Patterson Foundation for Academic Excellence in Speech and Debate, in agreement with the Regents of the University of Michigan, will be providing large tuition scholarships for twelve of the top rising senior debaters in the country. Debaters will attend the seven week program held at the University of Michigan. Two Lincoln Hall graduates, Elizabeth Bennett and Nasim Salehitezangi, are J.W. Patterson fellows. Elizabeth and Nasim will join another SD74 Alum, Faith Geraghty, who was a J.W. Patterson fellow herself in 2015. Keep up the good work, all! There is no greater reward than seeing our very own students excel above and beyond.

SD74 Alum George Panoutsos (Lincoln Hall Class of 2013) is giving back to his home District and we are glad to have him back. George has dedicated some of his free time in mentoring students in Lincoln Hall’s Robotics Team.

Members of the team have visited Niles West High School to watch the high school’s Robotics Team compete. Lincoln Hall Robotics Team is also preparing for their first competition, scheduled to take place in February.

“George has become a mentor for these kids. He has visited us multiple times and the students really look up to him,” stated Karlene Stecher, Robotics Team sponsor.

It is always nice to see former students back in our buildings.

Thank you, George, for your time and mentorship. SD74 is proud!

Congratulations to our own District 74 Alum, Mara Kosir, who is featured in Crain's Chicago Business "20 in Their 20's!" As quoted online in Crain Communications Inc., "20 in Their 20's are this year's rising stars that come from an eclectic mix of fields and have found success before the age of 30. They share one trait: passion. They are curious, ambitious, and care deeply about the world around them."

Mara is a Civil Engineer right here in Chicago and her domain is the Chicago area's transportation network. She has plotted out how to make the Blue Line operate better, worked on the lakefront path flyover near Navy Pier, and helped prep the Wilson Station rebuild in Uptown. You can read about Mara on Crains at this link: http://www.chicagobusiness.com/section/20s-profile?recipient=Kosir
